400th anniversary of the King James Bible

King James Bible

Did you know that 2011, marks the 400th anniversary of the King James translation of the Bible. The Queen, who is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Prince of Wales, who is patron of the King James Bible Trust, attended the service with the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams.

The King James is not my favorite translation due to its age and old language it uses but I find it great to see that the Queen of England still honoring the Word of God, celebrating its existence for 400 years.

Hebrews 4:12 says “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Even though it’s old, it is living and active today. We can celebrate its goodness, its guidance and direction, its correction in our lives. Thank you God for your word, written down in a book, for us to read and explore the richness of your Kingdom.
