Grace

TODAY’S VERSE
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where would we be if we had to save ourself? If we stood before God, what would we say? What could we say that would ever prove that we deserve eternal life? Paul makes it clear that our forgiveness is not a reward for good behavior. No, it is a choice that God makes on our behalf. He forgives us and accepts us because of His great love for us. And yet, in our own way we all try to justify ourself. In his book, “Surrender To Love”, Dr. David Benner shares, “Grace is totally alien to human psychology. We want to get our house in order and then let God love and accept us. – I want to be able to contribute something to the deal, my faith, my effort, my love, my belief. But the bottom line is that Perfect Love meets me where I am and asks only that I open my heart and receive the love for which I long.” Today, quit striving to save yourself. Christ has already provided a way for you to be in perfect relationship with God. Accept His love. Accept His gift of salvation. Accept His grace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for providing everything I need to be Your child. Thank You for everything I need to have all my sins washed away. I know I can’t earn Your forgiveness; instead, it is Your free gift to me. I accept Your forgiveness; I accept Your grace toward me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
